This
week consisted of me logging the books we recommend to keep, which has gone
surprisingly well! It is much more enjoyable to go through these books because
they are rarer and just really exciting to get my hands on. It has also gone a
bit smoother because I knew exactly what I was doing. When I was creating the
list for the books recommended for deaccessioning I was terrified I would find
out at the very end that I had been doing it wrong the whole time, I really
should have checked earlier to make sure I was doing it right, but ah well,
hind sight is 20/20. All this to say, I am dominating this new list.
Aside
from my typical museum duties, I was asked to help set up a wedding that will
take place this coming weekend. I had no idea that having a wedding at a museum
was even an option. Apparently they stay pretty busy with weddings during this
season which sounds cool to me! The room they host it in is beautiful with tall
ceilings and a large statue, whose name escapes me at the moment… but beautiful
nonetheless!
This was also an excellent time to get to know more people outside
of the Jack Friend Library, all of which were a pleasure to work with. I was
not able to help for long because I already have more to do than I can squeeze
into a 15 hour work week. In fact I typically stay 30-45 minutes extra each
day, I am something of an unsung hero.
